Cost and Turnaround

💰 The cost of a certified translation of a UK birth certificate into English for the Czech Embassy in London or Manchester:

  • £30 – birth certificate
  • £10 – apostille
  • £5 postage

⏱️ Standard turnaround: 2-3 working days of receiving payment
⚡ Express turnaround (by prior agreement)

There is no need to post your original birth certificate to me - photos or scans sent by email, WhatsApp or Messenger are sufficient. Simply make sure you take the original birth certificate and the original of the translation to your appointment at the Embassy. This will save you not only valuable time but also money on postage. Plus you won't have to worry about your original documents getting lost on the way.

CHOOSE THE CORRECT BIRTH CERTIFICATE

In the United Kingdom, there are two types of birth certificates – a short, simplified version called the Certificate of Birth, and a long, full version usually called a Certified Copy of an Entry or Certified Copy of an Entry of Birth, or in Scotland also Extract of an Entry from the REGISTER OF BIRTHS. For the purposes of the Czech Embassy, you must submit a translation of the full birth certificate, which includes not only the child’s details but also the parents’ details. The short version is not sufficient.

A UK birth certificate can take different forms depending on when and where it was issued. However, the correct one will always include details of the child’s parents. If you have lost your full birth certificate or cannot find it, you can order an official copy online from the official website of the General Register Office for England and Wales at this link > General Register Office – Order a Birth Certificate.

LEGALISATION AND APOSTILLE

Before the birth certificate can be translated into Czech, it must be legalised with an apostille. You can order an apostille yourself via the Legalisation Office website (link below) – this is the quickest and cheapest option for you. Alternatively, I can order the apostille for you. The following scenario assumes you will also want me to translate the document after it has been legalised.

If you order the apostille yourself

  • you fill out the online form on the Legalisation Office website
  • pay the required fee
  • post your birth certificate to the Legalisation Office
  • they will legalise it with an apostille and post it back to you
  • you email/WhatsApp me photos of the birth certificate and apostille
  • I translate the birth certificate and apostille and post the translation to you

The whole process usually takes 10-14 days, but can take longer, depending on how busy the Legalisation Office is.

ORDER APOSTILLE NOW

If I order the apostille for you

If you want me to order the apostille for you, the process is as follows

  • you post the birth certificate to me
  • I obtain the apostille for you
  • I translate the birth certificate and apostille
  • I post everything back to you
The whole process (apostille and translation) usually takes 10-14 days, but can take longer, depending on how busy the Legalisation Office is.
